How It Works?
Growth-Tech’s Wi-Fi service configuration to public passenger service commuters will be provided through the use of a mobile gateway device installed in the vehicle. The device creates a vehicle area network (VAN) which in return creates a mobile hotspot, in and around the vehicle, thus allowing passengers to access the Internet through their mobile devices.
The solution uses the local telecom provider’s LTE/4G mobile broadband network to backhaul passengers Wi-Fi traffic to the Internet and allows up to one hundred devices per transport unit to simultaneously access the Internet. These devices are rugged and are designed with redundancies such as built in battery backup in the event main power is lost which is vital in maintaining a positive end user experience.
All Wi-Fi devices will be remotely managed and monitored through a centralized network management system with the ability to generate real time alerts and reports for all events occurring on the network.

Mr. Halsall founded AIS in 1987 and currently serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Throughout his executive career, Mr. Halsall has amassed a wealth of experience leading cutting-edge technology companies across multiple industries. Before starting AIS, Mr. Halsall served as Chairman and CEO of National Cash Register (NCR) for 10 years where he was responsible for moving NCR Jamaica to the position of Leading country across Latin America and the Caribbean in performance and sales. For his performance at NCR he was awarded the NCR Chairman’s award on thirteen consecutive occasions, and the Century Percent club award.
Mr. Halsall enjoys a solid reputation for his visionary leadership in technology and his unique style of management which has seen AIS being well positioned in a number of strategic areas including both the Financial and Health sectors. In 2005, the Government of Jamaica, supported by the Opposition, recognized his contribution to Technology by conferring on him the prestigious Order of Distinction, one of Jamaica’s highest National honor.

Mr. Reid is the Chairman of Sam Sharpe Teachers College, a past Director and current member of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce. He chairs the Audit Committee of the EXIM Bank and is a member of the Enterprise Risk Management Committee of the Bank.
He holds a BSc in Banking and Finance, a Diploma in Banking AICB from the Institute of Bankers in the United Kingdom, a Diploma in Retail Banking from the BAI, University of Wisconsin, and is a Fellow of the London Institute of Banking and Finance. He completed the Executive Education Programme with Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
He is a Justice of the Peace for St. James and enjoys Badminton and Swimming.
